On Saturday, June 13th Autism Pictou County held it's fourth Annual Walk the Walk for Autism. It was a huge success raising over $50,000. Karen Berezowski, a Yoga 11 teacher at Northumberland Regional High School, and her students decided to volunteer at the Walk and collect pledges as a Karma Yoga project. The decision was made after the class learned the story of a classmate who has a brother on the Autism Spectrum. They raised $797 and helped to bring a smile to many children's faces! Karen said her students learned how to be compassionate, patient, put others needs first, work together and be a part of a larger team. The students remarked that they felt like a valuable part of the larger community of volunteers. Well done!
