On Saturday, March 28th Grade 8 students at New Glasgow Academy prepared and served a spaghetti dinner with dessert to 95 community members. The dinner celebrated Earth Hour, an event that started in Australia nine years ago as a way to draw attention to environmental issues such as climate change. During Earth Hour people across the world are asked to turn out their lights at 8:30PM local time.

The funds raised from the dinner went directly towards the school’s community garden. The event raised $310, which will be used for purchasing materials and seeds. The vegetables from this garden will be used in the school’s lunch program.

The dinner was organized by the Town of New Glasgow and New Glasgow Academy, and received support from Stirlings Farmers Market, the Atlantic Superstore and Rocklan Parties.
