The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board (CCRSB) is seeking nominations for educators who exemplify the Provincial Education Week 2016 theme: Media Literacy: Empowering Critical Thinking in a Digital Media World

This year, Provincial Education Week will be celebrated from April 17-23. Media Literacy: Empowering Critical Thinking in a Digital Media World, focuses on honouring educators who, through guided learning opportunities, are teaching students to become respectful, responsible and ethical digital citizens.

Literacy is essential to student learning in every subject at all grade levels, and to success in life and work. Today, media and digital literacy involve the skills required to understand, create, and critically interpret print, screen-based, and digital text. These media are a primary means of daily communication in our students’ world.

The CCRSB regional Education Week Committee, consisting of NSTU Local representatives, and governing board members, will consider all nominations. One name will be selected from each of the three NSTU locals within CCRSB, and those individuals will be recommended to the Provincial Education Week Committee to receive provincial recognition during Provincial Education Week. The provincial awards ceremony will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016.

The nomination deadline is Friday, February 19, 2016. Click here to download the nomination form!

Provincial Education Week is a joint initiative of the Nova Scotia Teacher’s Union, the Nova Scotia School Boards Association, the Federation des parents acadiens de la Nouvelle-Ecosse, the Nova Scotia Department of Education, the Nova Scotia Federation of Home and School Associations, the Association of Nova Scotia Educational Administrators, and school boards across the province.
