Construction on new West Highlands Elementary delayed; completion and opening dates pushed back

Media Release:
Wednesday, November 19, 2014

CCRSB has been informed by the province that construction of the new West Highlands Elementary school is continuing to take longer than initially scheduled. The school will not be completed in time for the intended January 2015 opening. The completion date is tentatively planned to allow for opening in March 2015; however, the province is still waiting on a final completion date from the contractors.

Classes at the existing West Highlands Elementary School will continue into the New Year. As soon as a hand-over date from the province is received, CCRSB will communicate the information directly to parents/guardians and the larger community.

CCRSB would like to reassure parents/guardians that once a final opening date is set the move from the existing school to the new one can be completed very quickly and will be done as soon as scheduling allows.

Questions or concerns about the construction process may be directed to the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.
