The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board (CCRSB) is pleased to announce that Gary Adams will be the school board’s next Superintendent of Schools/CEO, effective August 1, 2015.

Adams was selected following a nation-wide search and brings great experience to the position.

“The hiring committee received resumes from across Canada," said Trudy Thompson, CCRSB Board Chair. "After interviewing a range of selected candidates it was clear to the committee that Gary Adams was an excellent fit for CCRSB. We look forward to working with Gary to ensure that CCRSB remains focused on what is best for all students.”

Gary has had the privilege of working within a wide range of communities during his 27 years of experience, first as a teacher and for the last eighteen years as a school administrator, Supervisor of School Administration, and most recently as Senior Staff Advisor of the Halifax Regional School Board. With teaching and administrative experience ranging from elementary to university, he has gained a richly diverse perspective on what is required to ensure the success of all students through public education.

Working collaboratively with the Governing Board, staff, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and all school communities, Gary is excited to have this opportunity to provide leadership to the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board’s delivery of Public School Programs.

“I am thrilled to be working with such a dedicated governing board and staff to support all students in the Chignecto-Central Region,” said Adams.

Outgoing Superintendent, Gary Clarke, will remain with CCRSB until the end of July to aid in the transition.

“On behalf of all of the students, staff and elected members, I want to thank Superintendent Clarke for his many years of service and to wish him well in his retirement,” said Thompson.

The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board is comprised of 17 board members and 2,700 staff all striving to develop independent, lifelong learners in a student-centered environment, with high expectations for all. CCRSB serves over 20,000 students from Primary to Grade 12, throughout the counties of East Hants, Colchester, Cumberland and Pictou.
