Career Exploration Program: Property Services

Through Property Services courses, Grade 11 and 12 students will experience a wide range of experiences and learning opportunities, developing a variety of skills and the basic knowledge needed to explore careers in the Property Services Industry and related sectors while earning credits toward their high school graduation diploma.

Building Systems Maintenance 11 involves organization, controls, forecasting, and budgeting and a small property service business venture. Building Systems Maintenance 12 has a particular focus on the maintenance of commercial building systems. As a part of the Building Systems Maintenance 12 students will take responsibility for the operation of an in-house stockroom system. Students will be expected to maintain needed materials and supplies on which future projects are dependent. Organization, controls, forecasting, and budgeting are integral aspects of the course. Students may also participate in a small property services business venture.

These courses are designed to meet the needs of a great range of learners, including those who may proceed to post-secondary education in this and other fields as well as those who will be seeking direct entry into the work force following high school graduation.

Property Services courses are offered at the following high schools: Amherst Regional High School, Cobequid Educational Centre, Hants East Rural High, North Nova Education Centre and Springhill Junior/Senior High.
