Career Exploration Program: Hants East Rural High

The Career Exploration Program (CEP) at Hants East Rural High School is a three year program (Grades 10, 11 and 12) that offers students an opportunity to learn valuable workplace skills and experience while earning their Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma.

Food Services and Property Services are the two programs available at Hants East. CEP students are given the opportunity to go out into the work force / community for two separate two week periods to gain further knowledge of professions which they may want to explore. These experiences have always had great impact on our students.

This program allows our learners to feel a sense of belonging and ownership in their education; it also allows them to see that their teachers care about their future and want them to succeed.

We have received a high level of positive feedback from parents and students involved in the program. Many of our CEP graduates have gone onto Community College and become skilled trades people. One student has furthered his education and is currently working on a Bachelor of Arts in English at Mount Saint Vincent University.
